What We Do

Although Dallas Junior Forum members are firmly committed to raising money to fund our service projects each year, we also enjoy sharing our time and talents through volunteering. Dallas Junior Forum is very much a “hands-on” volunteer organization.

Each year we prepare more than 8,000 meals at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas for the families of sick children being treated in area hospitals,  and each week we supply meals to the Hope’s Door shelter for women and children affected by domestic violence.

Each month we conduct themed bingo games and provide companionship to the elderly residents of Juliette Fowler Communities.  We also provide annual holiday parties complete with treats, gifts, singing and entertainment.

At Ebby House, Dallas Junior Forum sponsors and furnishes bedrooms for the young women residing there who were formerly in foster homes, and mentor them in life skills and career planning.  We also sponsor holiday and birthday parties for the young women.

Each year we give our time, talents and compassion to the national Crimes Against Children Conference presented by Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center as well as volunteer our time in the DCAC administrative offices.

We assist Frisco Family Services in their food pantry and resale store, and at Interfaith Family Services DJF members help set up apartments for the working-poor residents, and mentor them in planning and budgeting, job hunting and preparing effective résumés. We also tutor IHC teens and schoolchildren.

Our annual spring fundraiser, DJF Celebrates, is a principal source of funds for our Grants Program that annually distributies monies to area 501(c)(3) non-profits that serve children, families and the elderly.  In addition, we supply non-grant funding to deserving charities on an ad hoc basis when needs arise.
