History

Dallas Junior Forum (DJF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1977 to create greater interest among women in civic, educational and philanthropic endeavors in the North Texas community through volunteer work focused on children, families and the elderly. DJF is one of nine chapters of Junior Forums, Incorporated, a Texas-based service organization originating in Houston in 1959.

Since our inception, DJF has donated hundreds of thousands of volunteer service hours to the charitable agencies we support. In 2015-2016 fiscal year alone, DJF members volunteered more than 16,400 hours valued at $411,800 in manpower cost-savings for the nonprofit agencies we support based on the independent standards of the non-profit network Independent Sector.

Dallas Junior Forum was honored to be recognized by Dallas Mayor Rawlings for our forty years of service and financial support to worthy non-profit organizations throughout North Texas. Monetary allocation for grants and other funding has been a direct result of profits from our annual spring fundraiser luncheons, various other fundraising events, and sales of our two award-winning DJF cookbooks, Tuxedos to Tailgates and Deep in the Heart and the generous support of our donors..
